When guests arrive at AfriCamps Dinokeng, they’re stepping into a family’s dream. Jaco and Taryn, together with their children, have created a place where travellers can slow down, reconnect and experience the bushveld the way their family has come to love it.

Drawn to Dinokeng Game Reserve’s wild landscapes and abundant wildlife, the family saw an opportunity to create something special. Bringing their vision to life inside a Big Five reserve took patience and perseverance, from navigating environmental requirements and approvals to carefully choosing tent positions that respect the land. Their children were part of the journey too, walking the property with them and watching the camp grow from an idea into reality.

For Jaco and Taryn, AfriCamps Dinokeng is more than a place to stay. It’s a family project built with care and a shared love for the bushveld. As hosts, they look forward to welcoming guests and sharing a little of the magic that made their family fall in love with Dinokeng.

Check-in: From 14h00 to 18h00 on day of arrival

Check-in arrangements need to be made and guests are kindly requested to inform the specific AfriCamps host of their estimated time of arrival. This way you are ensured of a smooth check-in experience. Full check-in information will be provided in your booking confirmation email.

Conservation fees

Please note that all guests entering Dinokeng Game Reserve are required to pay the applicable conservation fees and self-drive permit fee. The following rates apply:

• Self-drive permit: R250 per vehicle, valid for your entire stay
• South African adults: R85 per person, per day
• South African children: R50 per child, per day
• International adults: R200 per person, per day
• International children: R100 per child, per day

*These fees are not included in your AfriCamps accommodation rate and are payable separately.

Search for the Big Five on a guided game drive or explore Dinokeng at your own pace on a self-drive safari.

BIRDWATCHING

Keep your binoculars handy for hundreds of bird species found throughout the reserve.

BUSH WALKS

Discover the smaller wonders of Dinokeng on a guided walk, from animal tracks and birdlife to fascinating plants and insects.

Wood-fired Hot Tubs

All our tents offer the exclusive use of their own outdoor wood-fired hot tub. A wood-fired hot tub is the purest form of relaxation. Soak up the stunning surroundings while listening to the calming crackle of the fire, or take a dip to cool down on hotter days.

Acrobranch Pretoria North (±27 min)

Get ready to climb, swing and zip through the trees at Acrobranch Pretoria North. With aerial obstacle courses for different ages and adventure levels, plus a thrilling 300 m zipline, it’s a fun day out for the whole family.

Breakfast Baskets

We offer ‘Cook-Your-Own’ breakfast baskets with freshly packed ingredients for guests to prepare. Pre-order your breakfast basket when making your booking. Breakfast baskets should be booked a day in advance.

Braai Baskets

We offer ‘Cook-Your-Own’ traditional South African braai baskets for guests to prepare. Pre-order your braai basket when making your booking. Braai baskets should be booked a day in advance.

Each braai basket includes the following:

A selection of 400 g meat (kids basket includes 200 g meat)*
Garlic bread
Green salad
Side dish
Marshmallows on a stick

*Vegetarian or other option is available on special request.

Cost: R275 per adult | R160 per child (0 to 12 yrs) 

AfriCamps Dinokeng will be entirely solar-operated and further supported with generator power. The camp will not be affected by load shedding.

Our tents sleep up to five guests, but our rates are based on a two-person stay. Please note that the rates are a price indication, please use our online booking calendar to check live rates and availability. Extras like meals, activities and tours are not included in the price unless otherwise stated.

Cleaning Fee: All rates exclude a once-off R300 cleaning fee per booking. This fee will be added to your total during the booking process.

Accommodation

All tents sleep a maximum of five people. The following items or services are not included in the price unless otherwise stated:

• Food and beverages
• Activities and tours
• Additional daily cleaning service (available on request)
• Wood and firelighters for the wood stove and campfires (for sale at the property shop)

Music

No noise, parties or music are allowed in the camp unless the guest has booked the entire camp for a function.

Day visitors

No day visitors are allowed in the camp. Out of consideration for fellow guests, the camp will only accommodate up to 5 paying guests per tent.
