Your Hosts
The Edwards family decided to relocate from a stock farm in the Eastern Cape, and bought this farm in 1985 to farm fruit, dairy and sheep. Originally known as Longridge Farm, it was once owned by the Newdigates of Forest Hall. Ingwe is situated on the southern edge of Longridge and this spectacular site overlooks valleys of indigenous forest and fynbos and has a view of the Indian Ocean. The Edwards family always had the vision of being able to share their beautiful surroundings with others and through a number of partnerships, this has been made possible.
After 30 years William and Lucinda Edwards still live and work on this 100-hectare farm with their two children, who are now grown up. Their farming activities have migrated to breeding Nguni cattle, which do exceptionally well in this area. Nguni cattle are traditional African animals with big horns and beautiful colourful hides. These harmless giants stick together in a tight herd and can be seen grazing the lands with Fallow Deer and Impala. Guests can spot them outside the tents in the early morning.
Daily life includes typical farm activities, but also includes running a real estate company, Farmers Choice and Choice Properties, which they started in 1989. William saw a gap in the market and with his knowledge and farming qualifications, combined with Lucinda’s BComm degree from UCT, they launched their real estate business.
Willian and Lucinda have a love for sailing. They sail competitively on small boats and enjoy cruises on big boats. Over many years of sailing, and visiting places all over the world, they are convinced that Ingwe is the best place on earth. They feel so privileged to live and work in this incredible environment that they decided to open their doors to guests and joined the AfriCamps family.
You will not find many people more knowledgeable about the area than your hosts, the Edwards’s. Enjoy their beautiful farm, the views and the forest and unwind in the luxury of our boutique tents.
