AFRICAMPS AT PAT BUSCH, ROBERTSON

Glamping on the foothills of the spectacular Pat Busch Mountain Reserve

BOOK NOW!

AfriCamps at Pat Busch is situated in Pat Busch Mountain Reserve just outside Robertson. 2000 Hectares of spectacular mountain fynbos with streams, mountain dams, birdlife, and various animals such as bucks, fallow deer, Nguni cows, and even a very shy leopard. The reserve is also home to a rare Protea Flower that was thought extinct for almost 50 years and is now under the protection of Cape Nature. Our glamping tents are tucked away in the Cape fynbos and look out over a folded green valley with the Langeberg as a gorgeous backdrop. In July 2019 we opened five new tents, to have 10 tents on the property. We invite you to escape the hustle and bustle and come and explore this hidden valley together with your dearest friends and family. The possibilities on the property are endless and include several walking trails, good bird watching, fishing for bass, and swimming and paddling in the farm dam. The sparkling nine-meter swimming pool, fringed by a rolling green lawn is also a welcomed addition at which to chill in the summer blaze.

The reserve forms part of the Klaasvoogds West foothills in the Langeberg Mountain between the towns of Robertson & Montagu. With over 160 years of history, Robertson has grown into one of the most attractive Cape Winelands towns, with Victorian buildings, jacaranda-lined streets, and vineyards banked with beautiful roses. The Robertson Valley forms part of Route 62, the longest wine route in the world and famous for its many wine festivals. There are also a big variety of attractions, activities, and culinary delights on offer. Visit the Rialheim, a ceramic factory, where you can view and buy unique and fun handcrafted ceramic homeware. Take wine tasting to a whole different level by taking the Viljoensdrift River Cruise including a gourmet picnic on the tranquil waters of the Breede River. Or meander your way up the Langeberg Mountain with the Montagu Tractor Trip and enjoy your traditional Potjiekos at an altitude of 1500m above sea level. Round off your day with a soothing massage at Rosendal Wellness Centre while gazing at the beauty of the vineyards.

Your Hosts

AfriCamps at Pat Busch Mountain Reserve is owned by Stephan and Lindi Busch. In the early 80s, the reserve used to be a working farm growing peaches, apricots, and vines. Stephan’s dad, who moved from Germany to South Africa 50 years ago, used to spend a lot of his free time on the farm hiking, fishing, and swimming. He fell in love with the place and that’s why many years later in 1985 when he got the possibility to buy the land, he didn’t hesitate for a moment. From this moment onwards the farm is better known as the Pat Busch Mountain Reserve. At the time many people used to stay over in the hiking cabins on the property. Making a reservation was done by simply leaving a post letter behind in the mailbox. Renting out these cabins was their first encounter with tourism and marked the beginning of a whole new venture.

Stephan grew up in the Reserve and literally knows every nook and cranny of the property. He used to work in the wine industry as a Boutique Winemaker and that’s also where he met his wife Lindi. They are now happily married and proud parents of 5-year-old Logan and 2-year-old Aurelia. In 2012 Stephan & Lindi decided to take over 495 hectares of the Mountain Reserve including cottages and a large farmhouse. Due to the popular demand for the property, they made the decision to hire it as a wedding and event venue as well. Over the years they hosted many special occasions and Pat Busch definitely established itself as one of the main event venues in the area.

From the first moment we met with Lindi and Stephan, we were all in a “too good to be true” mood. Not also were we flabbergasted by the beauty of the surroundings. It was also a great possibility to accommodate guests in unique Boutique Camping tents that offer a direct connection with the unspoiled nature that the reserve has to offer.
