It was about time for AfriCamps to branch out to Greater Kruger once more. With the opening of AfriCamps at Mackers in Hazyview in 2018, we introduced our fully equipped, fully furnished luxury glamping tents to this remarkable area, and the camp has been running at full steam since day one! We kept exploring the area and found a remarkable property in Hoedspruit, so AfriCamps at Hoedspruit opened in November!
In celebration of our 10th camp opening, we took to Facebook to find 9 lucky winners to experience our new camp first and announced a daily winner for 9 days up to the opening of our camp. Our grand prize winner also enjoyed a Blyde River boat cruise and sunset game drive – only one of the 8 amazing tours offered by our newest camp owners, Louwtjie and Monica and their experienced guides.

“I had the birthday experience of a lifetime and beyond grateful that I was able to share that with my mom and son. We spent our weekend making the most incredible memories playing board games, roasting marshmallows, relaxing in the hot tub and laughing up a storm!
The AfriCamps set up is one I had been admiring and following on social media for a while but to experience it is truly something else. The tents are beautiful, I could not get over the design approach and attention to detail which ensures every need is thought of and provided for. The space is classic in terms of finishes and detail, incredibly comfortable and fun – glamping is the way forward!
Being the grand prize winner, we were treated to a Blyde River Canyon Boat cruise which exposed the raw beauty we have in this country. It was breathtakingly beautiful with such knowledgeable guides we were able to see a crocodile, hippos relaxing in the water and some baboons having a great time on the sandbank.
My day was made even better (who knew that was possible given where I was) by a Sunset Game Drive with Louwtjie and Leon. Their passion for wildlife and depth of knowledge is contagious. We loved each moment of seeing what we could spot and learning about the various animals, birds and plant species. The animals must have known it was my birthday as not only did we see a whole herd of Buffalo, Giraffe, and buck aplenty, but a pair of rhinos and not one, but two leopard spottings. The experience was something the three of us will treasure for years to come.
Louwtjie and Monica are incredible hosts who ensure that you feel welcome and special to them. They really are such amazing people and I wish them nothing but the best on their Africamps Journey.
